Lake Vyrnwy is actually a drinking water reservoir for Liverpool and is privately owned by Hafren Dyfrdwy. They allow us to permit access to the water to the public under strict guidelines which are as stated:
- All Guest / Own Boats Must Register and Launch from the Boathouse Only.
- Everybody on the Lake Must Wear a Bouyancy Aid.
- No Access to the Lake if the Boathouse is Closed.
- No Swimming at any time.
These rules therefore are in place to safeguard you and us but also to protect the nature around the lake. The top 1/3 of the lake is actually a nature reserve for the RSPB! This is the reason why we have a cut off point two thirds of the way down the lake for everyone who accesses the water.
We are a small family run buisness on the beautiful Lake Vyrnwy in mid Wales. Dave Proctor has run the boathouse here since the 1980s, he is the only reason why people are allowed to use their own craft on the lake as he advocated for this for years with the sites owners; along with our friends and fellow staff his son Gareth is in the process of taking over the buisness to keep it in the family and the community for years to come.
Bethania adventure is an outdoor activities centre that rents out boats, runs corporate / private events as well as catering to school and club groups. We dont just hire boats! We run archery sessions, challenges, team building events and much more! There is also a bunkhouse for people to stay close to the lake that is available to hire for groups year round!!
You will notice that we have free roaming dogs on site, they are very friendly and will come and say hello! However we please ask that you do not feed them. We are an animal friendly site but nonetheless we understand that not everyone feels the same, therefore if any of our dogs are bothering you just let us know and we will come get them.
